How to Use an Inversion Table
The principal for any gravity inversion system is to reverse gravity on the spine by inverting your body. My personal choice is the use of an inversion therapy table as opposed to gravity boots.
Before using your equipment for the first time, it is vital that you thoroughly read the inversion table instructions. The equipment must be set for your height and weight to insure that your body is supported correctly. The machine must also be set for the proper amount of incline based on your experience level. I suggest that you start with a fairly low amount of incline, say 45 degrees off of horizontal when first starting out.
All inversion tables have the same basic design. They consist of a flat surface for the length of your body with a pivot point around the lower back. In the normal position, the foot rest is located close to the floor and your head will be elevated. Place your feet on the foot rest and secure your ankles with the ankle bar. I recommend that you wear laced shoes when using your machine, as that will give you the most support and prevent your feet from slipping.
Once you are lying on the table with your feet secured, use your hands on the side bars to slowly tilt the table back until you have reached the level of incline you set earlier.

You can stay in this position for several minutes, but refer to the inversion table manual for guidelines based on your experience level. I personally let my arms hang down below my head and alternate stretching from one arm to the next. My whole routine consists of three inversion positions, each followed by a slow return to a horizontal position for about 30 seconds, followed by a slow return to the “standing” position for about 30 seconds. This is important to allow the blood to slowly change from the upright to inverted position.
